Bite Wounds in a Dog with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome

History: Finley, a 12-year-old MN Golden Retriever with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, presented with multiple bite wounds following a dog attack. The wounds were clipped and cleaned, and the owner initially managed them with bandages in the first week. Given Finley's fragile skin and underlying condition, the prognosis for wound closure was uncertain.

Physical Examination: Multiple traumatic bite wounds were present. Due to the patient's compromised skin integrity, surgical closure was considered particularly challenging.

Treatment: Conservative management was elected. Following routine wound cleaning, KeraVet Gel was applied topically twice daily for 1 week.

Clinical Outcome with KeraVet Gel: Finley tolerated treatment well, and the wounds closed remarkably well with topical therapy alone. In this case, the use of KeraVet Gel provided excellent support for wound healing.
