Lick Granuloma Following IV Catheter Placement

Patient: Middle-aged, female labradoodle

Clinical Findings: Following a routine dental cleaning, this highly anxious patient began persistently licking the shaved IV catheter site shortly after returning home. The self-trauma quickly progressed to a lick granuloma with serous discharge, raising concerns about delayed healing and continued irritation.

KeraVet Gel was prescribed for topical application every 4–6 hours. Within 48 hours, the lesion had resolved, the irritation subsided, and the patient had stopped licking the affected area.

Outcome with KeraVet Gel: Rapid resolution of a post-procedural lick granuloma, with healing achieved in 48 hours and self-trauma discontinued.
