Post-Prep Dermatitis in Canine Neuter

History and Clinical Findings: Mattingly, 1 y.o. Lab mix, developed a topical skin reaction during surgical prep for a routine neuter. Shortly after being scrubbed for surgery, Mattingly developed severe erythema of the scrotal skin, despite the area not being shaved, simply suggesting sensitive skin.

Treatment: The first application of KeraVet Gel was applied immediately after surgery as part of the post-op protocol. The owner was instructed to apply KeraVet Gel every 4–6 hours for 3 days to the affected area.

Outcome with KeraVet Gel: Progressive improvement was observed over the 3-day treatment period, with erythema fully resolving by the third day. The surgical incision healed uneventfully, and the skin reaction resolved without complication.
