Severe Traumatic Bite Wound from Coyote in Canine Patient

History: Zoe, a 6-year-old FS beagle mix, sustained a large bite wound to her right forelimb near the elbow following a coyote attack in November 2024.

Clinical Findings: The wound was extensive and required long-term management with the expectation of healing by secondary intention.

Treatment: Initial treatment consisted of wet-to-dry bandage changes every 3–4 days, along with Clavamox and gabapentin. After the initial few bandage changes, the owner began applying KeraVet Gel daily. KeraVet Gel was used throughout the final two months of the healing process.

Clinical Outcome with KeraVet Gel: The wound continued to granulate and progress toward closure, ultimately achieving full healing. The entire recovery process spanned approximately 3 months, with KeraVet Gel supporting the final 2 months of wound repair.
